King David and Bathsheba (1) - 1987, Monotype, 59 x 50 cm

Insofar as sexuality is an element in the embodiment that mediates our relation to reality, an aspect of the life energy that enables us to connect with others in creativity and joy, sexuality if profoundly connected to spirituality, indeed is inseparable from it. Sexuality is both a symbol and a means of communication and communion … It is who we are as body-selves who experience the emotional, cognitive, physical and spiritual need for intimate communion, both creaturely and divine. It is that part of us through which we reach out to other persons and to G-d, expressing the need for relationship, for the sharing of self and of meaning. When we touch that place in our lives where sexuality and spirituality come together, we touch our wholeness and the fullness of our power, and at the same time our connection with a power larger than ourselves.
