Six of Cups

David and Bathsheba's baby dies and then David feels abandoned by the loss of his baby and goes into mourning. When he has finished mourning he appears tranquil.

Divination: This is a melancholic card. The illusory state of being in love has passed and although the past may seem alluring and irretrievable, there is still a promise for a positive future.

Seven of Cups

David brought Bathsheba to his palace and made her his wife and Solomon the future king, was born.

Divination: The uprising of cheerful flights of the imagination of a splendid future where one is fully protected in one's love relationship is a normal consequence of the obligation, which one experienced in the Six of Cups. However, time and cautious life choices and much hard work are now required to make those things come about.

Eight of Cups

David was an old man, burned out, confined, shivering in his bed. They covered him with clothes, but he could get no heat. After a long search, they found Abishag the shunammite, and brought her to the king. And the damsel was very fair, and she became a companion unto the king, and ministered to him.

Divination: This card involves the need of giving something up. One has to face reality and accept that there is no other way out except to let go and move on.

Nine of Cups

David is about to die and Bathsheba and Nathan appear before David to ask him to let Solomon succeed as king.

Divination: Although David is on his deathbed, this is a card of dreams being fulfilled and a person feeling satisfied with ones life. It is a realization that love is not just about the in love state, but proper love is rather a pledge to a life-long journey that includes sometimes going off the tributaries of the main river in order to learn different life lessons.

Ten of Cups

Solomon was made king, and he ordered that a throne for his mother be placed beside his, so she sat at his right hand.

Divination: This card symbolizes a state of stability and continuing gratification. From the moment David and Bathsheba met there was a feeling of erotic ecstasy between them, which then grew into a spiritual love. From their union has come Solomon, the king of Israel. When love has gone through all the many trials, it unites us with our own souls. The result is a sense that one has done the right thing and so there is meaning to our lives.
