PENTACLES.

Pentacles cards represent financial interests and the material domain.

David1 Joseph 1 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm

Ace of Pentacles

Joseph was a strong and healthy lad and daily fed the flock with all his brothers. Jacob loved Joseph more than all his sons and made for him a coat of many colours. Joseph dreamt a dream and told it to his brothers: "We were in the field binding sheaves, and my sheaf arose and stood upright, and your sheaves stood around about and bowed down to my sheaf." He dreamt another dream, and told it to his brothers: "Behold, the sun, the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to me."

Divination: This card insinuates there may be a potential achievement of material success as the raw energy is now accessible to the person. Either money or an inheritance or some other resources will be made available and if operated efficiently, this will be able to develop.

David 2 Joseph 2 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.

Two of Pentacles

Joseph's brothers sold him to some Ishmaelites, and then Potiphar, the officer of Pharaoh bought him. Pharaoh saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did prosper in his hands. G-d blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake and so Potiphar left all that he had to him. Now Joseph was a handsome guy and his master's wife cast her eyes upon him and loved him. But he would not love her and said that he would never be dishonest to his master. She went to Joseph's master and told lies about Joseph.

Divination: This is a clear depiction of a materially motivated man who is young and daring and ready to take chances so as to make the most of his talents. However, one must always be aware of taking the right path, and not diverting in the midst of the excitement, otherwise you can put a blemish on your career.

David3 Joseph 3 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.

Three of Pentacles

Potiphar sent Joseph to prison because of the lies his wife told him. But again, G-d was with Joseph and whatever he did, G-d made it prosper. Joseph interpreted the prisoners' dreams. Pharaoh sent for Joseph to help interpret his disturbing dreams. Joseph, in his usual humble way agreed to and said: "It is not in my power. G-d shall give Pharaoh an answer." He told Pharaoh there would be seven years of great plenty and then seven years of famine. Pharaoh chose him as a governor and took off his ring and put it upon Joseph's hand.

Divination: This card symbolizes an early achievement, and here we see Joseph obtaining the initial reward for all his efforts. This early achievement represents the first tangible evidence of a project. There is reason for festivity, but be aware that there is still hard work to follow. The financial success which this suit signifies is dependent not only upon perception and astute business skills but also upon a good solid character.

David4 Joseph 4 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.

Four of Pentacles

Joseph left Pharaoh and went all over the land of Egypt. In the seven years of plenty, the earth brought forth food in abundance. So during those seven years when plenty prevailed in the land, Joseph gathered up food and stored the food in the cities. Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, gave Joseph two sons before the years of famine.

Divination: This card cautions about an approach of putting too much worth onto material things, thinking that the more one has, the more important one is. One must remember that material goods cannot bring one any closer to G-d and by obsessing about accumulating more material things; one is holding back one's creative energy.

David5 Joseph 5 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.

Five of Pentacles

The famine was severe in other lands too and Jacob sent Joseph's ten brother out to buy grain in Egypt. When Joseph saw his brother's, he recognized them, but he acted as a stranger toward them and said they must bring their younger brother to him. They did not know that Joseph understood them; Joseph turned away from them and wept.

Divination: This card symbolizes defeat. One has no other choice but to let go and accept one's fate. Unfortunately, because humanity puts so much weight in material possessions when one loses all one's money, one also loses faith in oneself. However, this is a good time to begin soul-searching and to start a fresh journey, both physical and spiritual.
