Joseph 6
- 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm
Six of Pentacles The brothers were afraid when Joseph brought them into the house thinking it was because of the money that was found in their sacks. However, Joseph treated them like royalty and they ate, drank and were merry. Divination: This is a pleasant card, echoing the restoration of faith in humanity. The ambience of this card is not reward for hard work, but rather of compassion. There are times in life where things do go one's way just when one needs it and one's faith in life is restored. |
Joseph 7 -
2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Seven of Pentacles Joseph wept aloud and made himself known to his brothers. They came near, and Joseph told them who he was and that they must not grieve nor be angry with themselves as it was part of G-d's plan to send him ahead of them in order to save their lives. Joseph embraced Benjamin and they both wept. Then he kissed all his brothers. Divination: This card symbolizes a tough decision. Joseph has worked long and hard to achieve his place at court and can be justifiably proud of all he has accomplished. The individual is now expected to make a decision between the safety and security of what one has already constructed or take the risk of following a new route that may or may not lead to a victory. If one does not venture out of the sanctuary of the cave, one's inspiration will forever remain stifled. |
Joseph 8 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Eight of Pentacles
Jacob then came into the land of Goshen. Joseph presented himself to him, and he fell on his neck, and he wept on his neck a good while. Jacob said he now felt ready to die seeing as though he knows Joseph was well. Pharaoh welcomed the brothers and blessed Jacob. Joseph placed his father and his brothers in the best of the land of Rameses as Pharaoh had ordered. Joseph provided his father, his brothers and his father's entire household with bread, according to the size of the families. Divination: A new mission has presented itself where new talents must be acquired so that the assignment may thrive. This card does not mean insecurity, instead it implies that if one puts one energy in a new direction even at a later stage of one's life one can make a success of things. One can continue to flourish even if one is no longer young. |
Joseph 9 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Nine of Pentacles Jacob became very old and called his twelve sons and said: "Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you what will happen to you in the days to come." Jacob, who was called Israel, told how the twelve tribes of Israel would descend from seventy-two sons, and he blessed every son with a blessing. Then Jacob yielded up the ghost and was united with his people. Jacob's sons carried their father into the land of Canaan, as he had commanded. They buried him in the cave of Machpeleh. Divination: This card symbolizes a feeling of self-assurance. Joseph has taken a risk on a tricky endeavour, put all his effort into it, and was then able to stand back and admire it. This is the private gratification one experiences when one has accomplished things through your own hard labour. There is a stability and steadiness about the contentment present in the Nine of Pentacles that is most comforting and what most human beings strive for and is much more than worldly achievement. This card reflects a feeling of a profound and enduring sense of self-value. |
Joseph 10 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Ten of Pentacles Joseph returned to Egypt and he forgave his brothers for the evil things they had done to him when he was a boy. "Fear not", said Joseph. "Am I here in the place of G-d? You meant evil against me, but G-d meant to turn it to good and to bring to pass what is today; to keep many people alive. Therefore have not fear. I will nourish you, you and your little ones." Divination: This card symbolizes a condition of eternalness that outlives the life of the person. Not only has Joseph accumulated wealth and power, but also he can pass his success onto the next generation. This kind of wealth and materialism is what we all strive for; with our lives being transitory, the essence of our material ambition is to leave a permanent sign behind as a reminder of one's journey on earth. |
