Moses 6
- 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm
Six of Wands After G-d had sent the ten plagues to the Egyptians, Pharaoh finally told Moses and Aaron to take the children of Israel, and their flocks and their herds and go and worship their Lord. However, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh went after the Israelites and at G-d's command, Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the Israelites went safely through. The Egyptians pursued and the waters returned and covered all the host of Pharaoh. For the moment, the Israelites rejoiced at their good fortune. At last they were free from bondage but many arduous trials lay ahead. Divination: This card symbolizes an experience of accomplishment, acknow-ledgment by the public and victory. It is an exhilarating moment as one has worked hard and now at last one is been recognised and one's work is being appreciated. Yet, with all this excitement of being in the public eye, there comes resentment and competitiveness from the masses. |
Moses 7 -
2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Seven of Wands Moses was on the mountain for forty days and forty nights in order to receive the commandments. Meanwhile the Israelites grew fearful and felt that Moses had abandoned them. They appealed to Aaron to make them an idol, and he fashioned a golden bull which they proclaimed their god. Moses came down from the mountain and grew hot with anger and hurled the tablets to the ground. Divination: This time there is a different struggle going on but now it is against another human being. Once you have put your creative ideas out there, another person can come along and steal your ideas and so you have to always be ready to have total faith in yourself and be ready to begin your next venture. |
Moses 8 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Eight of Wands
G-d forgave His people and they renewed their covenant and had built a sanctuary to Him. When it was time to leave and head northwards to Canaan they carefully dismantled and packed the sanctuary and placed the sacred ark of the covenant on two long poles, which the priests carried at the head of the caravan. Divinination: There is a letting go of creative energy after the apprehension and trepidation of the seven have been conquered. Self-confidence is gained only through victory over barriers. This is the reason why many artists create on such a large scale when there are so many obstacles in their life. Therefore, one should not shy away from challenges, as this is what makes life interesting. |
Moses 9 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Nine of Wands During the journey through the desert, Moses heard the people's cries and Moses pleaded with G-d for help. And G-d said: "Gather seventy men of the elders of Israel, and bring them to the tabernacle to stand there with you ... I will make them share the burden of the people, so that you no longer bear it alone." Divination: This is the card of the creative spirit which is often hidden deep within us and helps us to face that last upward battle when we are exhausted and feel we just cannot go on any longer. It is that amazing strength in reserve, that amazing inspiration which must come from our guardian angel which gives us the much-needed encouragement to finally take on the ultimate challenge. |
Moses 10 - 2009 Mixed Media on Paper, actual size excluding border, 7.5 cm X 12.5 cm.
Ten of Wands Moses was 120 years old. He climbed up the steep rocky mass of Mount Nebo until he finally reached the summit. Looking back, he could see his people camped far below him on the plain. He looked toward Jerusalem and the blue waters of Lake Galilee. Then he closed his eyes and, with the image of the Promised Land still before him, the great man died. Divination: This card symbolizes a state of fatigue. In the beginning it is hard to work out how this visionary and courageous tale of daring accomplishments should conclude in this intense and burdened stature of a man. It signifies that the imagination needs to once again be stimulated and awakened again with fresh new ideas otherwise it becomes stifled under the weight of worry and cares. |
